⚡ 6-Week Rule for Employed

If you started your role within the last 6 weeks, AtW pays 100% of equipment with zero cost-share for your employer.

Information Needed: Workplace address, HR/Manager contact email, and job title.

📌 Sole Trader Requirement

You must have a Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) number from HMRC or proof you have registered as self-employed.

Note: There is no minimum turnover requirement for coaching-only grants.

🏢 Ltd Company Director

DWP treats you as an employee of your own company. You will apply under your Limited Company details.

Information Needed: Have your Companies House Registration Number (CRN) handy when applying.

🔄 Multiple Roles

Apply under your primary role, but make sure to list all jobs during the process.

Why this matters: AtW will calculate and fund your support across your entire working week, covering both your employment and your self-employment.

The Queue & Rest Period

Average waiting timeline is currently 37 weeks (~18–22 weeks to be assigned a caseworker).

Fast-Track Rule

Starting a new job or role in under 4 weeks? AtW fast-tracks your application to process within 30 days!

Interim Support

We can use interim coaching options (ad-hoc or block sessions) while you wait for DWP processing.

Caseworker Call & Assessment

A Case Manager will reach out to discuss your workplace barriers. No formal NHS diagnosis letters or medical proof are required.

Employer Contact Notice:

DWP may contact your manager or HR contact to confirm job details. I can provide a manager briefing sheet if needed.

Document Checklist to Prepare:

• UTR Letter or recent Tax Return
• Invoices or business bank statement (proving active trading)

Coaching Proposal

I will supply an AtW-compliant proposal (£150/session) and help you prep for your assessment call.

Grant Approval & Award Letter

Sign and return your official Award Letter (typically funding 12 coaching sessions).

If you disagree with the award level: You have the right to 1 formal Reconsideration with a new Case Manager.

Coaching Starts & Claims

Your sessions transition 100% to your AtW grant!

9-Month Claim Window: Keep all receipts and invoices. Claims must be submitted within 9 months of payment.

Who Qualifies?

16+ living in Eng/Scot/Wales in paid work, self-employed, or starting a role soon. No minimum hours or income threshold.

Changes & Renewals

Changing jobs? Equipment moves with you. Support ending? AtW contacts you 12 weeks before to apply for renewal.
